Giuseppe Preti (Rolo, 1692-1770)
Extraordinary chest of drawers with three drawers, with a sinuous shape, entirely inlaid and threaded.
The shaped top has a central cartouche where a laurel wreath delimits the initials C.F.S surmounted by a five-pointed crown.
The three drawers are inlaid with shaped cartouche motifs and eagles, the symbol of the House of Este.
The sides have centered cartouches inferiorly with a shell motif.
Front bracket supports with shaped carvings, lateral supports carved with shell motifs.
Woods of walnut, maple, elm, ash.

Our furniture is certainly to be correlated with the identical specimen already presented and published by the Museo della Tarsia of Rolo and bearing the autograph signature of the cabinetmaker Giuseppe Preti (Rolo, 1692-1770), also active at the Este court and in the Palazzo Ducale of Modena.
