Giuseppe Preti (Rolo, 1692-1770)
Drop-front desk entirely veneered, threaded and inlaid in walnut, ash, and maple woods.
Supports carved and defined by rocaille-motif inlays.
The veneering is arranged in "marquetry", the top and sides are embellished with shaped cartouches.
The chest of drawers is curved in the center. The back of the piece of furniture has an inscription that traces its belonging to the noble Spalletti family.
By style and executive quality, the artifact can be traced back to the activity of the cabinetmaker Giuseppe Preti (Rolo, 1692-1770), who was also active at the Este court and in the Ducal Palace of Modena.
